Things that don't help when going through a break up

I promise my blog is not being taken over by me feeling sorry for myself over the whole break up thing... however in my defense it has only been a week, and it's my blog I should be able to write whats on my mind, and whether I like it or not, this is on my mind. Anyway, lately I've been getting a lot of advice and sympathy going through this whole thing. Some people are really helpful, and my friends are an amazing support system. I'm lucky to be in a house full of people who really care. However, sometimes when people think they are helping they just aren't. Here's some of the not-so-helpful-but-trying-to-be comments that I've gotten lately:

  • There are plenty of fish in the sea- While this may be true, yes. 1. It's a small school & a small town, so I kind of feel like my options are limited, and 2. That's not really what I want to here right now.
  • You can do so much better- again, this may be true, but again, not what I want to hear right now. It honestly just pisses me off coming from friends because when we were together, we were "so cute" and he's "such a good guy" and now all the sudden he's not good enough? I can understand if he was a jerk about the break up, but as I said, he wasn't.
  • You can't keep doing this to yourself, stop thinking about it all- I got this as I was crying... like it was my fault I was upset, like I want to feel like total crap! Like I want to obsessively think about everything, to the point where it does make me want to cry? No, but I really can't help it. Like I said it's still so new, and it still hurts, so sometimes I cry... it's all part of the process.
  • Just give it time, time heals everything- I know this can actually be really good advice, but again, not so much what I want to hear. I don't want to give it time! I just want to fast forward through the "time" and get to a point where its not awkward for us to be friends.
  • Do you really think you can be friends, that never works- um yes. I do. and thanks for the voted confidence... real nice!
  • He's a jerk- this kind of goes a long with the whole you can do better thing... 1st of all he had the opportunity to be a jerk about it and he wasn't, and 2nd he really isn't a jerk, and he definitely wasn't a jerk when we were together, so the fact that we broke up doesn't make him a jerk because he broke up because he cares.
I know people mean well, and I know from experience its hard to know what to say to someone going through a break up. I just had to vent a little. Also, on the subject of advice... one of my guy friends just started a blog!!! I'm so excited, it's going to be like an advice blog, so if you want to ask him any questions, e-mail him at bryansadvice at gmail dot com, and check it out his blog (maybe give it a little while so he can get a post up!)

Not Me Monday!

This is my 1st time participating in MckMama's Not Me Monday! I'm so excited! If you haven't checked out her blog, you definitely need to.. she has an amazing story and 4 amazingly cute kiddo's! So anyway here are some of the things I did not do lately: I did not spend almost the entire day in bed on Monday after the unfortunate event, and I did not skip my classes so I could sulk and feel sorry for myself. Not me, that would be stupid! I also did not let my friends talk me into going out with them that night... to his fraternity house. I also did not have to excuse myself to go to the bathroom and cry once I got there and someone informed me they didn't know where my boyfriend was, and I had to inform them he was no longer my boyfriend... not me. I also did not let my same friend talk me into going over there again the next day... where I did not have an awkward run-in with him. Nope. I did not start talking to this guy again this weekend... not me, that would be a bad idea. I also did not tell him to leave me alone only 2 days after we started talking because he was creeping me out hardcore. (There will not be more on this later, since this did not happen) I did not pay $30 at the airport this weekend for a book and a magazine... that's crazy! I did not eat like there was no tomorrow all weekend, not just Thanksgiving... I would never do that! I did not spend Friday night with friends drinking at my house... I would never do that in my house! I also did not steal borrow a few alcoholic drinks from my parents, not me! I did not break down and cry tonight when I got back to my room because of the incident... not me, I'm over it already. I did not sign up for NaBloPoMo and then ditch it 2 days later... not me! I did not stay up until 4 in the morning tonight enjoying the reunion with my friends and then writing this post even though I have class at 9 AM... that would just be stupid! So, hope you enjoyed reading about what I haven't been up to... sorry for the lack of posts this week, I'll update you guys soon on what's been going on.

Sad Day

Just in time for the holiday season, sad news :( My boyfriend and I broke up last night... he broke up with me. He was nice about it, and he didn't want to have to end things... but he has a lot going on and needs to get his life together before he can be in a relationship. I understand, I do, but it hurts... a lot. I wish there was a way that he could get his life together and still keep me in his life as his girlfriend, but it doesn't look like there is a way for that to work right now. I am so lucky to be surrounded by amazing friends, who all took care of me last night. I know this is the best thing right now, and I'm really glad that he cares about me enough not to drag me on when he doesn't feel like he can be 100% committed to this relationship. He has a lot going on in his life, and he felt like our relationship was possibly just another way for him to escape. I know he needs to get his life together, and we both said that it's possible there is a future, but for now he has to figure some stuff out. I just can't stop blaming myself... I know it's not my fault, it's no one's fault really, but I feel like there is more I could've done, I should've been there for him more... there are just so many regrets. If there is such a thing as a good time to break up, I guess that now is a good time because I'm leaving tomorrow to go home for thanksgiving, so we'll get a break from each other and we'll be able to think about things. It sucks. There's really no other way to say it. It really sucks. I miss him. I wish it didn't have to be like this. The worst part is, I had no idea. I did not see this coming at all, and that sucks even more. I know I'll be okay, and eventually when I'm ready I'll be his friend because he needs friends in his life right now, and maybe someday, when the timing is right, we can be together. Who knows what the future holds... all I know is I need to stop focusing on the past, and focus on the positive things. It's just gonna be a really hard couple of days...

My High School Musical 3 Review

I've been meaning to write this post all week, so thanks to Jen @ Daily Mish Mash for hosting Movie Madness, a bloggy carnival all about movies, for motivating me to finally do it!
I finally did it! I went to go see High School Musical 3 last weekend! I was a huge fan of the 1st High School Musical, and I liked the second one. I was pretty pumped for the 3rd one! So last weekend my best friend and I had a date and went to go to see it! Throughout the movie, we couldn't help but comment on some things that seemed a bit silly to us, or just something we couldn't resist speaking about! So, like the true blogger I am, I compiled our thoughts on my iPhone throughout the movie. Here are mine and Lisa's thoughts on High School Musical 3!
  • It's awfully sunny to be raining- I swear it was during one of the songs with Troy and Gabriella, and they were on top of the school, singing of course, and one minute it was really sunny and then all the sudden it was like sunny & raining... strange!
  • I bet there's a song about this- We would joke around every time there was some major dialogue about how there was gonna be a song, since there's a song for everything! I know it's a musical, we were just being silly.. go with it!
  • Why do they have to sing every time they eat lunch? And where do the tables go?- Seriously, every time they were in the lunch room, there was a song! And magically... the tables disappeared! Where do they go?!?
  • The freshman look 8- seriously how old were the actors that were supposed to be the freshman, because they did not look like freshman. And for once, they didn't look older than they were supposed to, but younger! Can't they just look the right age for once?!
  • OMG Gabriella's clothes- are fabulous!!! If only I were that skinny and could afford clothes like that... I can dream right?!
  • Why does Troy have to climb over everything?- Seriously, at one point he gets out of his truck, hops over the back to get the other side to open the door for Gabriella. Um... I guess he looked cool and all, but why not just walk around?! Later, he did the same thing with a chair, like hopped over it in some half dance move or something, when he could've just walked around!
  • Best Line of the whole movie: "Take a breather, Lebron"- I don't know why, but for some reason we found this hilarious!
  • Sharpay's purse looks like a hoola-hoop- seriously, if you haven't seen the movie yet, when you do look for the hoola-hoop purse! It's too funny and too weird!
  • Troy is so sensitive- maybe a little too sensitive? Just throwing it out there...
  • Why is it raining basketballs?!- At one point, during one of Troy's songs I think, it was literally raining basketballs! But miraculously, somehow none of them hit him even though he was standing right there! hmm..
  • Who bike rides in a mini skirt?!- Apparently Gabriella a.k.a. Vanessa Hudgens does because she did in the movie! Who does that?!? Inappropriate! And you would think that would be really uncomfortable...
  • What kind of theatre performance has different actors playing the same role at different parts of the show- I don't wanna say too much about this, because I don't want to give away any spoilers, but seriously... the theatre performance was so strange, but of course everyone in the movie loved it! Whatever!
And finally... my favorite one:
  • Pink Leather pants... really?! Enough said!
Overall, it was a good movie, not my favorite HSM movie by any means, and it was pretty high on the corny scale, but it was worth seeing. I know a lot of people who loved it, and the music as always was pretty good! Can't wait to download some of the songs. Hope you enjoyed our thoughts & reflections. If you want to write your own movie post, or want to link to one you wrote before make you sure you go link up with Jen!

Why I Love Spam E-mail

So I'm pretty sure we all get spam e-mail from time to time, and I don't know about you but I have a love-hate relationship with it. Most of the time, it's just some stupid robot trying to sell you something or sometimes it's not even in English! Most of the time it's just annoying to sift through the crap to get to the good e-mails. However, once in awhile a good one actually comes along. Take for instance the spam e-mail I got today. It was just too weird and too funny to delete and never speak of again! Allow me to demonstrate:

Knock!!! knock!!!! (Um... this is an e-mail you're not at my door why are you knocking?!) May i come into ur world ??? (Come into my word?!!? I don't even know you!) I bring no flower, no cake , no chocalote, but i wishes u (wow great grammar) flesh prayer to keep ur healthy & luv to keep u smiling... (Um.. what?!?!) (wow what was that side note? Didn't quite catch that..)really wish to meet with that special someone one fine day and i always praying for that...i loves the way i am today but the most important thing is i'm missing to ask as my friend so much especially my parents, i lost them in a airport crash...hard to believes that they are so far away from me..really wish to see them and also my bestess friends back at home..miss you priness (what is he calling me princess?? I didn't add too many comments to that one because I think it speaks for itself...
Then there's this one... apparently it's ok to request money from people you don't even know:
Good day,i am requesting for your kind ASSISTANCE AND HELP,(what's with the random caps?!?) i want to go into a lucrative business (is there any other kind of business that one would want?!?! And the Oscar Goes to.... (part 1)

I love getting awards, who doesn't?! It really brightens my day to know that people not only read my blog, but like it. That's crazy to me! I mean I think I'm a decent writer, and some of the stuff I have to say is interesting, but still, maybe it's not so interesting to everyone else. Anyway, thank you to Dee, Laural Out Loud, Island Girl. They have each awarded me with a shiny (sometimes even sparkly!) new award! I'm so excited! Anyway, as much as I love awards, I am a very bad award receiver! It always takes me forever to re-award them! So, I'm sorry for being a bad award receiver, but thank you for my awards, I love them! Ok so, 1st off Laural Out Loud gave me this award: That is so sweet, isn't it cute??! Thank you, again! The rules for this award is to give it to 10 blogs I love!! That should be easy! I'm going to try and give this to people who don't have this award, but no promises! These are the people who have and will type paragraphs of advice when I most need it, just because they care! Who else would be more deserving of such an award!?!

Next, I have this lovely award from Dee! Isn't it pretty?!?The rules to this award are Post the badge on your site and link back to Maternal Spark. Tag 5 of your bloggy friends who have sparked creativity, conversation, controversy and friendships! That's it, it's easy to spread the sparky love so go on...do it! These 5 blog friends are amazing and deserve some bloggy love so go check them out! So, that's that now go check them out and tell them I sent you! lol Moving on... Island Girl @ Not Perfect But Worth It passed on this lovely book award to me!Here are the rules: Pass it on to five other bloggers, and tell them to open the nearest book to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence on that page, and also the next two to five sentences...The CLOSEST BOOK, NOT YOUR FAVORITE, OR MOST INTELLECTUAL! Ok, I'm warning you this is gonna be boring.. the only books I have near me are Text books so here is a short excerpt from my Mass Communications text book. "In three months, Common Sense sold 125,000 copies- some historians say it was closer to 250,000- 1 for every 10 colonists. Paine was no mere armchair commentator. In 1776 he joined George Washington's army." I'm gonna spare you from boredom and stop there.. for the record they were talking about Thomas Paine and the subject was Books in National Development. Yeah... bored yet? So, hopefully these people will have something more interesting to say, sorry for boring you! I know that's only 4 but I give up! Ok... so are you sick of all these award posts, yet? Well because I'm a procrastinator so popular, I still have 3 more to give out!! I'm so humbled by all this love, when I started this blog I never imagined that anyone would actually read it, much less send me awards telling me they love my blog!! Thank you everyone! Because I love you all so much.. I'm going to spare you! I'm going to do the 2nd half of these awards later in the week, so this doesn't turn into a novel or anything! Please go check out the award recipients, if you haven't already! They all have amazing blogs, and we all know how much we love bloggy love, so show them some please :) Part 2 coming soon...

Me vs. You

Why is it that we can't just be happy with what we have, and we always have to compare it to everyone else? There will always be something that's not good enough if we constantly compare ourselves to other people: Someone will always be skinnier than me... that's just the way it is. But then there are the few that aren't. Someone will always have more money than I do... Someone will always be happier than I am... Someone will always be something that I am not or just more so than I am. Why is it that we do this to ourselves? Why can't I be grateful for what I am and for what I do have without comparing it to other people? There is usually nothing good that comes from this... it usually only leads to feeling inadequate.. at least in my case. I may not ever measure up to other people... but I am me, and I should be happy with that. Easier said than done, obviously, but it's really starting to make me crazy! I am setting myself up for disappointment by comparing myself to everyone else. The truth is my friends boyfriend might say sweet things that mine doesn't.. but that doesn't mean that my boyfriend and I aren't happy! The truth is half my friends will probably always be skinnier than me, and it sucks, but I am who I am! It's such a waste of time to compare ourselves to everyone else... we are all our own person and that's the way it should be. So why can't we just love ourselves and what we have without worrying about other people!?
