I need you....

In case you haven't heard, next week marks the beginning of my college career! I have a lot of mixed feelings about this, which is a whole other post in itself, but it's coming up really fast. Anyway, I leave on Tuesday! Can you believe it? Me either! So, I need a favor from all of you bloggy friends. I'm going to be really busy next week. I'm going to be going through rush, so there's going to be events every night, etc. Bascially, I really don't think I'm gonna have time to blog. I will definitely be twittering (tweeting? Twitting?) my every move, so you can keep up with me that way, and once it settles down I will definitely right a huge post about everything once I get the chance (hopefully next weekend) but in the mean time, I am wondering if anyone wants to guest post for me. This seems to be the new trend around here in bloggy land, and I want to jump on the bandwagon! So I need like 4 or 5 of you to help me out ?! Starting next Wednesday. I would really appreciate it! If you're interested, let me know! I would love to have you! Also, I apologize for the lack of posts the last few days... the words just aren't coming to me! I'm trying to get something together, but I can't find the words!

7 Things About Me

Former City Girl tagged me in this fun meme where you seven random facts about yourself! The rules: Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs. So here goes.. why is that I have no problem talking about myself until I'm put on the spot?!! By the way, I'm totally singing Miley Cyrus' "7 Things" song right now... yeah I know.

  • I love Italian food.. my dad's Italian, and he's a really good cook, so I've grown up with a lot of really good Italian food, and I love it!
  • I am officially obsessed with the Jonas Brother's song "Burnin' Up".. whenever I'm in a bad mood, or just need to boost my energy I blast that song, and immediately I'm better! haha
  • I love little kids- I'm not in any hurry to have my own (someday, yes. But not anytime soon!) but I love to baby sit and I love babies! They are so cute!
  • I am beyond addicted to Starbucks. Like addicted doesn't do it justice! I can't live without, and I don't know what I'm going to do at school because there's not a Starbucks in the whole freaking town! That was almost a deal breaker for me, almost. Luckily, I came to my senses and didn't base my education decisions on coffee. lol!
  • I love my job... well today is my last day at work so I guess I don't exactly have a job anymore, but I love it. It's an amazing place to work and everyone is so nice. I'm really going to miss it.
  • I am a huge Ashlee Simpson fan. I've loved her ever since she was on 7th Heaven way back in the day, and I love her music!
  • I hate mornings (thus, my Starbucks addiction). If I could sleep all day every day, I so would. But then again, who wouldn't?!?! haha
Wow I can't believe that was 7 already... I could go on and on who doesn't like talking about themselves ?! lol Now, I shall tag some lucky people: (You're it!) Jen @ Momma Blogs A lot- I know you love a good meme so here you go! Joy @ When Does Daddy Come Home? Auds @ Barking Mad Chelle @ Creative Momma Just A Girl His Daughter @ F.R.O.G.'s Blog Broken Man @ Blog of a Broken Man

Question

Quick Question... Well I wanna know if there's anyone that does like a Monday Morning post where you post about what your going to post about this week. I have been known do this sort of thing from time to time. I know it's kind of hard sometimes because posts just come to you randomly, but if something happened over the weekend you're planning to blog about later in the week, you could preview it with this, and give us all a reason to come back later this week. I could've sworn I saw this somewhere, but I can't remember where... so blogger's, I need you to help me research! Let me know....

**Update: I'm not sure I was clear.. I appreciate the feedback I've gotten so far. But what I'm asking is if someone does this as like a Mr.Linky thing, with the banner & all... and if not if its something anyone is interesting. I'm playing with the idea of doing something like this, so any feedback is great! Thanks.

It's really real...

So last night at dinner, my parents & I were discussing my laptop. This particular laptop we bought from my high school with the intention of using it through my senior year and then for a couple yrs @ college. It was supposed to be a really nice laptop, you know so great, whatever! Well, it's not that great, and it had so many problems by the end of my senior year, that it was almost unusable. Anyway, that's a whole 'nother post in itself... basically long story short, we took my laptop to get repaired for free because my parents already paid a bunch of money for this laptop, and they're not ready to throw it away and spend more money on a new one. Fair enough. I understand that. So we took it to get repaired and they basically re-did everything and it was supposed to work like a brand new computer. Well, it was fine. Except that it randomly turned off.. like in the middle of my doing something it would just crash and bam! everything was gone. Big problem right? So it's getting fixed again, and they promise to have it ready by the end of the week, blah blah. Anyway, so we're discussing this, and I bring up the question of how I am supposed to use my iPhone and my iPod with my laptop which is a PC, when they both are currently synced with our Mac desktop. So I'm freaking out because I really don't want to erase everything on my phone and my ipod and figure out how to get all on my laptop, and then on my phone and then my ipod. It's just a major hassle. If I had a Mac laptop, this wouldn't be an issue... so it sucks, and I'm pissed about it. Honestly. lol My dad prommises we'll figure something out. And my parents have prommised if I get to school and my laptop isn't working still, we will get a new one or whatever we have to do, that I'm not stuck with something not working, we're just trying it out to make sure it's unusable. I get it, I do. It just is like one more thing that I have to worry about, and it really stressed me out that I have like 6 days until I leave, and I have to worry about re-loading my ipod. STUPID!!! Anyway, I just get to the point where I'm so frustrated and stressed about my stupid iPod/iPhone, that I'm crying! And honestly, it's not aobut the stupid iPod, and its not about the laptop. I trust that my parents will help me out. I know that. I've gotten over wanting a new laptop really badly, and I'm willing to try this one out for awhile. But something about the realization that I won't be home to update my songs on my iPod/iPhone whenever I want, just hit me hard. It took something that little to make this is all seem real. It didn't feel real... like I knew it was happening, but I couldn't picture myself there, and I couldn't grasp the concept that my life was changing. And all the sudden, something so little made me realize this is really happening. I can hide under the covers all I want. I can procrastinate doing my shopping because I don't wanna face the fact that I'm leaving all I want. But on Tuesday, I still have to get on that plane. I still have to go to school. And you know what? I'm scared. I have nothing to stay here for anymore, since I pretty much don't have a lot of friends left, so it's not about that. I want to get away. I want to make new friends. But I'm scared. I would never admit that before, because saying it outloud, or putting here on my blog, makes it real. And I don't want it to be real. I don't want to face the fact that my life is going to change. It's all so unknown, and there's so many changes. It's a lot to take in. I want to be excited, and part of me is. But the biggest part of me is scared as hell, and that is the honest truth.

Stay Tuned....

Ok so some days I can't find anything to write about, you know the feeling. Well I have like 1000 things to write about today (ok not really) But I just wanted to give you a heads up, because it might be a little bit before I can organize my thoughts & make actual posts! haha

  • I am attempting to play along with WWWAT today, but I'm not really sure my pictures are worth it, and I'm actually not even sure I can upload them from work, so that's a maybe.
  • I have a new idea I want to run by you, and see what you think, so look out for that...
  • I updated my movie quotes because the answers to the best quotes were pretty much really hard... and half of them were unheard of!
  • I may write an updated post on all the drama... but probably not today.
  • I have to talk about this whole college thing, because its coming up really fast!
  • Don't forget, if you haven't already to check out my dinner party invite.. I am seriously wondering if I can cheat and have 2 dinner parties b/c I had so much fun coming up with the 1st one.. hmmm....
  • Former City Girl tagged me in a super-fun meme, so I'll be filling that out today, and tagging some of you, so look out for that, too!!
  • I am probably forgetting something... but you get the point!

I'm Having a [Barking Mad] Dinner Party!!

In case you haven't heard Auds at Barking Mad is hosting a dinner party for all of us bloggers in an attempt to bring the community together! Brilliant, right? Yes, indeed. So I am officially announcing I, Patrice, am hosting my very own 1st dinner party! Now, you'll have to come back and check in because the location is T.B.A. seeing as, well, I'm moving out of my parents home in about a week, and a college dorm is just not a suitable place for a dinner party. So once I get settled in and get to know my new home a little better, I will find the perfect location for the dinner party which will be nothing short of fabulous, because I do not take this responsibility of planning a dinner party lightly! Now as for the guest list... I am fairly new to the bloggy community, and while I have managed to make a few bloggy friends here and there, I'm no Madonna of the blogging community, if you will. So, sit back and listen (read, whatever), because the following people are cordially invited to my 1st ever dinner party: Jen E @ Momma Blogs a lot (and she does!)- my 1st bloggy friend! I could never leave her out. She's my top commenter, and almost always the 1st to comment and offer up advice! She's full of wisdom and pretty darn funny, too! She's currently seeking a new design, so WP gods, help a girl out! She will come to the dinner party with stories of her "MM" (her son) and "SB" (her son's besty!) and she will probably come with stories from the latest books she's read. She may even assign us books we must read before her own dinner party, because this girl loves books. This girl loves a good meme, too, so if you've got one, send it her way! Plus, she's got this blogging thing down- she has like 5 posts a day! How does she do it?!? She'll be sure to contribute greatly to the party! Chelle @ Creative Momma- my amazing bloggy friend who I've only known a short time, but don't know what I would do without! She's a bookworm, too, and she will probably tell us about her awesome book swap. Plus, she'll have great stories to tell about her adorable daughter Bella! I may have to make her help me cook for the party because she's full of great recipes! She's from Missouri, which is so cool, so she may even be able to help us out with the location! If you need anything, or you just need to talk, Chelle is a great person to go to. She will always have something nice and uplifting to say, and can make you smile even when you don't feel like it! Sue @ Happy Meals & Happy Hour- Sue is a blogger who I barely know, but she will undoubtedly be the comedy of the night. Even her comments are funny- she donned me her "youngest commenter ever" (which I consider an honor!) and she even offered me her words of wisdom, so she may have some wisdom for all of us! We can bond over her love for the Jonas Brothers (which is seriously one of the funniest posts I've ever read! So funny I quote it in daily life- not kidding!) She will probably bring drinks, too (even though I'm underage- we don't have to tell anyone! shh!) because she knows how to have a good party! If I have any dead critters to be removed before the party, Sue will be the one to call! She will hopefully bring BG, who also knows how to have a good time. I really hope she accepts this invitation because I would love to get to know her better and I'm sure she will show us a good time! Dana @ Supernanny, Where Are You?- Dana's hosting her own dinner party, but I'm sure we can arrange to schedule our events on different days so she can attend mine! She always has great stories to tell, about her adventures as a mail-carrier, or about her 2 kids being mischievous! She also brings our attention to very important causes such as adding your e-mail address to your blogger account, and my favorite, drunk dialing. Yes, Dana is funny, creative, and she's a great advice-giver as well! She hosts Top 5 Tuesday, which she let me be the 1st ever person (other than her) to pick the theme this week! Thanks, Dana!! She could also help us all out with some new make up since she showcases Mary Kay products. I would be honored to have her as my guest! McMommy @ The McMommy Chronicles- McMommy is what I refer to as a blogging goddess! She amazes me. Her ability to turn something like shaving cream or gum into something hilarious! She claims she isn't funny in real life, which is why I'm inviting her to the dinner party. So we can all see for ourselves how "unfunny" she really is... I'm willing to bet she's a lot funnier than she gives herself credit for! She makes us all feel special with POW, we get to show off our "best" work! She's very popular, she has quite a few fans, so she doesn't always have time for little fish in the blogger- sea like me, but hopefully she can spare a little bit of time to attend the dinner party and entertain us all with her presence! Carol @ Siswick Construction Zone- Carol is quite popular, as well, as she's already attending at least a couple dinner parties, but I think we can all schedule our parties so they don't interfere with one anothers! Carol's one of my newer bloggy friends, but we quickly bonded (at least I think so!). We've bonded over our love of Jodi Picoult books, and she gives great advice like the other bloggy mommy's! She's really funny, too! Hopefully she will leave the stories about poop & poop art out at least until after dinner, but surely she'll have some good stories of her bad parenting! If you click over to her site, be prepared to laugh a lot! Rachel @ Adventures of an American Mum Alien- Rachel is a great photographer, so I would done her the unofficial picture-taker of the dinner party! She was an American Mum, living in England with her 2 cute kiddo's & her hubby. However, aforementioned Hubby is away from them for awhile learning to Scuba, so they are currently back in the U.S. (thus the alien part of her title). I know Rachel's having a hard time with the separation, and who can blame her! So, I'm guessing a night out may be just what she needs to get her mind of it! Rachel is so smart- she designs blogs, she is (like I said) an amazing photographer. She's super-active in the bloggy world- hosting WWWAT & Photography lessons- Get Your Click on! I'm sure Rachel will have great stories to tell, too about being an ex-American Mum! Amanda @ Lifelong Playdate- Amanda gives really good advice as well. Also, her daughter, Beans, is so cute! Amanda will come to the dinner party with stories of all the adventures her and Beans went on that day, and maybe even tell us more about her super-fun bloggy playdate with Heather and Ella! She's so funny & smart, too. She even came up with a bloggy code in case we run into another blogger in real life! I wonder if the bloggy code applies to the dinner party... Jenny @ Happening's of a Little Bubba- Jenny is someone who I've only exchanged comments with once or twice, and we don't know each other all that well. However, I love her blog. Her son is too cute, and she is too funny! I feel from reading her blog that she will contribute greatly to our dinner party. She will warn us of dangerous shower products (her and McMommy will have that in common!) and tell us about the terrible drivers in her neck of the woods. I would love to get to know her better, so I would be thrilled if she would attend! And of course Auds @ Barking Mad- She's hosting this wonderful event so we couldn't dream of leaving her out! I'm sure she will be very busy since she is the guest of honor at so many dinner parties, but hopefully she can make the rounds and make an appearance at all of them! I've only started reading her blog recently, but I love it. It's so honest and very funny!!! She has a daughter my age which is amazing, I would've never guessed she was old enough! She also has a very cute 2 yr. old who is apparently a very good singer. Anyway, so far just within the week that I have been reading Aud's blog, she has been able to make me laugh and make me cry. She's also extremely kind judging by the great advice and encouragement she gave me when I was feeling down. I would be honored to have her attend my party, since after all it was her inspiration that led me to have this party! I love cute little kiddo's, so feel free to bring them! I won't charge for my baby-sitting duties, I swear! RSVP by leaving a comment on this post! Now, like Jen pointed out, it's not a party without crasher's, and there were several more of you I would've loved to invite. It was very hard to choose. I hope that you all will attend, even you crashers! Now head over to your blog and create your own dinner party, then link up at Aud's place.

Movie Quotes- Best & worst

Ok, so I wasn't going to do participate in this, because I was so busy planning my dinner party! But I couldn't resist...

So I have found a list of the worst movie quotes ever according to "a polling of 2,000 movie goers in the UK in late 2004" Yeah, I didn't make this up... but I am giving credit where credit is due! lol
So here's the list:

1. "I'm the king of the world!"

2. "Nobody puts Baby in the corner."

3. "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed."

4. "I love you." "Ditto."

5. "You can be my wingman any time."

6. "I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her."

7. "Today we celebrate our Independence Day."

8. "They make take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!"

9. "You had me at hello."

10. "You're a godsend, a saviour." "No, I'm a postman."

**Update: I am changing the best list... I really should've read the answers before I posted, because I checked the answers, to see how you guys did, and I've never heard of like half the movies. So this is a new && improved list! Sorry those of you that already guessed, but I really think I'm doing you a favor! lol
1. "I'll be back."

2. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"

3. "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'. (That's goddamn right.)"

4. "Hasta la vista, baby."

5. "(But you don't understand, Osgood. Uh, I'm a man.) Well, nobody's perfect!"

6. "Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye."

7. "Goodbye, Mr. Bond."

8. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die."

9. "Made it, Ma! Top of the world!"

10. "Fuh-get about it!"

Ok, so try again, and I'll just forget your 1st guesses!!

So, now for the fun part: Name the movies!!! And maybe I will give you a prize if you can get the most right! I'll have to come up with something, but I will do it! So have fun...

Top 5 Tuesday

It's that time again, everyone! It's time for Top 5 Tuesday with Dana @ Supernanny, Where Are You! This week Dana so generously allowed me to come up with the topic! I was so honored, and after a lot of thought... I decided we should make it Top 5 Reasons Why You (We) Love to Blog! So I hope you enjoy my topic, and thanks again to Dana for giving me the honor of choosing the topic! So here goes:

  1. I have a lot of feelings, and this is a way to express those feelings, and put them into words. It's very therapeutic.
  2. I love "meeting" new people. That's one of the best parts about this bloggy world- you meet new poeple, and you bond over your likes, dislikes, etc!
  3. Comments, duh! Comments are so fun, and people can be so nice. I love love it when new people come over, and leave comments like "I love your blog" or "You're so funny" <--- I never hear that in real life!
  4. The community aspect of it! I love that we are like our own bloggy community! We can rally when someone needs our support, like Heather, and we have our own bloggy parties, like Aud's Dinner parties! It's like being in an exclusive club!
  5. It's the easiest way to keep my family updated once I go to school, so I don't have to send out like 100 e-mails a day being like "this is what happened today... blah blah blah" lol
So, thats why I love blogging... why do you love it? Head over to Supernanny Where Are You? and tell us!

I have officially crossed over...

Lately I've come across a lot of bloggers who say that either their immediate family or extended family (like mother's in laws) don't know they blog or don't read their blog. And there are just as many (maybe more) who are on the opposite side of things, and have to be careful what they post because their husband/mother/mother-in-law, etc. reads their blog. So it got me thinking.. how many of you are "undercover bloggers"? I first started this blog with the intention of keeping family up to date when I leave for school. However, my plans quickly changed. I found it to be very therapeutic and personal and I didn't want people that actually know me to read what I was writing. I really don't know why! It's ironic that I will let total strangers in on what's happening, but not my family. The irony is not lost on me, don't worry. However, it's not a secret that I blog. Many of you keep it a secret, and I don't know how! My family knows, and a lot of my friends know, but they don't get it. My friends tell me I have "no life" because I blog, and my family has requested the link to my blog a few times, but I have denied them... However, I have officially crossed over. I am no longer an "undercover blogger." I am about to leave for school as many of you know, and I am lucky to have a very caring family who wants t0 know what's happening. Honestly, it would just be impossible to e-mail everyone individually, and since I am so addicted to this blog, I will definitely be keeping it up to date as best I can. So I figure it's the best way for everyone to know what's happening. Therefore, I crossed over. I gave the first family member a link to my blog! I have no idea if she even read it or passed it on, but I did it. And it wasn't my mom! ha Don't tell her! It's funny because it makes me think about what I post, and while I won't censor myself because, after all, this blog is still for me just as much as anyone else, I am more likely to be anonymous about things dealing with friendships, and such. It's funny, though, what I am learning is that if you don't blog you really don't understand the bloggy world. I let some of my co-workers read my blog the other day while I took a break and they covered for me. They read my Top 5 Tuesday post, and they got confused because I linked to Dana's blog, so they went to her's, then got confused because they thought it was Supernanny's blog and they kept asking "Who is this person". That's what I get most when people who don't blog see me blogging - "Who is that?" "Do you know that person?" or my favorite "What is this?" Me: "uhh... a blog.. duhh!" haha It's a great world, our bloggy world, and it was particularly clear to me how great this bloggy world is for support last week when I most needed it. I know I already thanked you all, but really, I can't say it enough, that without the support of bloggy friends out there, I don't know what I would do! This post didn't turn out quite like I envisioned, but hopefully you can follow my randomness.. I'm off today, it's a Monday, can you blame me ?!?

Book Swap!

My new bloggy friend Chelle is hosting this brilliant idea- a book swap! How cool is that?! I love a good book, and I love to hear what everyone else is reading! I had a really hard time deciding what book I wanted to post, because there are so many great ones that I've read! I am a huge Jodi Picoult fan, and of all the books of hers I've read, I had a really hard time choosing a favorite. However, this was my 1st 2nd Jodi Picoult book, and I couldn't get it off my mind for weeks. I really wanted someone, like one of my friends, to have read it as well because I was just dieing to talk about it! Plus, the movie is coming out in 2009, featuring really big stars like Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin. So, without further ado... I present to you My Sister's Keeper! I promise you will love it! Thanks, Chelle, for this awesome idea! If you wanna join in (and you know you do!) go here and join up with Mr. Linky! Unfortunately, this week I will not be participating as far as choosing someone else's book to read because I must finish (a.k.a. start) my summer reading book before I leave next week).

I am humbled and grateful...

I am so grateful && so humbled by how many of you left such thoughtful comments this week. I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't have this bloggy world of support... it's therapeutic just writing it down but when you guys leave comments with such thoughtful and helpful words, it is really unbelievable. So, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is definitely a hard time for me, but this bloggy world has honestly made it so much better! I've been busy getting ready for college and spending time with those friends I still have left that aren't complete !@#$%^S.. haha, but I will respond to everyone's comments and I promise I will try my hardest not to post all complaining posts this week because I feel like that's all I've done lately. Yes, I am still hurt. And I wish the situation was better, but unfortunately, its not despite my best efforts... I am really at a loss as to what to do and I suppose I will just have to let it go which is even harder for me than just fighting. I really could write another 10 posts about this (at least) but it wouldn't make me feel better, and I am trying not to dwell... So thank you again. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have support from so many different people. I will be back after the weekend is over and it's not so crazy around here!
